![]() So it's been almost 10 months now since the minis service started, and during that time these minis have seen PS3 emulation, over 80 games released, and over 1 million downloads passed. The purpose of this thread though, is to find out what you think of the service (just out of curiosity).
Do you feel minis are good, or that they're nothing to get excited about? What's been your favourite mini released so far? What do you thing needs improving with the service? Do you tend to play minis more than full games? Any other comments about the minis service is also welcome, because i want to see what the playstation community thinks about minis, especially since it's a gaming platform that isn't mentioned often, and does have potential. My views of the minis service are that they have some decent games on offer, but it could be improved by including more original games, and games more value for the money you pay for them. I also think they should advertise them more, because some just get dumped on the store without a word. This post was edited by MasonMk (07-28-2010 20:33 GMT, 39 days ago) |

My View Of Minis (LIST) Are :
-Too Expensive!!! -We need first person shooters like Coded arms which had grat grapics and was only 96mb -we should have milton bradly board game minis like operation -sony should be focused on making ARCADE minis like pacman, dig dug, ect. -we need SIM CITY NOW! P.S. if you are reading this SONY please put these into concideration because so far MINIS ARE LAME, LIKE running out of a forest by clicking for $3.99? or a tank game that i beat in 3 mins?and much more BAD

I thought they were going to be on the level of most fun iPhone apps, $0.99-$2.99. But that's not the case. The only Mini that I thoroughly enjoyed was Age of Zombies.

A mini in my opinion should be a "pick-up-and-play" at any time experience, not just a short game. I mean, games like Stand O' Food and Fieldrunners are great examples of how minis should work, especially SoF since FR is simply a tower defense. The gameplay should be engaging and replayable, especially at the $3.99 price tag. In simpler terms, minis should be worth the cost and not just cheap.
My minis choices are ... Bloons, Fieldrunners, and Stand O' Food, with SoF being the best so far. |

QuoteThis ^ I'd also like to see older games like Pacman, Galaga, and so many more go into the "minis" category, because I don't want to buy a full fledged PSP game for $20 with a bunch of games that I won't even care for. I want to buy them individually, launch them individually. |

IMO, some minis are great, some are not. Some are nicely priced, some are expensive crap.
Minis probably specialize in puzzlers, strategy, and some actions games. They're the kind to pick-up-and-play, yet can have you playing for a while. The biggest problem in the minis category is, most of the time, the price. Seriously, paying $10 bucks for something that you can play online forn free (Yes you, Tetris.) is not worth the money. I'd rather use that for a PSOne game or something. And even that could cost less. Also, some of the minis have relatively long loading times, which can cause problems for the pick-up-and-play thing. My personal picks are Age Of Zombies, Fieldrunners, Echoes, and Blast Off. I'm looking forward to Flying Hamsters, which is, I think, the first side-shooter. i've purchased three minis and then have gotten 3 for free via PlayStation + membership.
out of the three i purchased (Blast Off, Echoes, and Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess), they all seemed to entertain me for the amount i spent. all were $5 or less and all were a decent buy. out of the three free ones (Age of Zombies, Fieldrunners, and Kahoots), only Kahoots has disappointed me and it is because it is overly kid-ish and could have been made better in terms of graphics but the game play is fun enough and you can't really complain too much about it because it was free and it wouldn't have been anything i would have picked regardless. i think cheaper games would be good but some of the wants of those who are asking for online games and quality graphics ... these are cheaply made games that can't have online (one of Sony's rules), that are supposed to be brief time wasters. they are not meant to be a replacement for a full fledge PSP game. i likely won't purchase anymore on a whim, unless they look really good (like Flying Hamsters). |

I like the idea of the minis, some of the games are fun,I really like adventure, but it would be cool if they added more board games, and if they added more remake of older games(pac-man for example,or an example of one already made tetris),the minis go have allot of potential but they should widen the variety of the games.

I like the idea of minis, but not the price so much.
I though Sony wanted to make minis sort of like apps for iPods. If they wanted to, then some of the minis would have been $0.99. My favorite and only mini is Monopoly. (Great game, I highly recommend it), but I play full games much more than minis. |

I think minis are too expensive for what they should be priced (around $.99- $2.99 would sound about right). And they should put a trial version of a certain mini (kinda like Apple's App Store's "Lite" apps). Kinda like a demo so people get a taste of what they want.

monster sole my princess problay and echoes i enjoy all three off them but echoes and monster i wait for a sale to buy them beacuse 5 for a mini is too much (age of zomies was worth 5 bucks) and they should be like 1 or 2 dollars nothing more beacuse any thing more than that should make it the same type of game u can get on the psn for 5 or ten bucks |

I bought Hysteria Project, Archibald's Adventures, Bloons, and Funky Punch. I enjoyed Hysteria Project for a while, LOVE Archibald's Adventure and Bloons, but was very disappointed at Funky Punch (poor choice). As far as prices go, they need to bring down those prices a bit. However, the quality of these Minis are starting to improve (ex. Young Thor), so it looks as though things are getting better for these bite-sized games

They have to charge taxes man... otherwise they couldn't sell them :\ (legally that is ;) ). Anyways I think the idea of the "mini" is fantastic... but Sony's lack of both presentation and good minis makes it something to pass up, for now. So far the only really enjoyable ones that I have boughten so far are Age of Zombies and Fieldrunners. My advice, wait for quality to go up and price to go down.

Red Bull X-fighter is the best mini in my eyes, followed by Rocket Racing and Fieldrunners.
I think Bloons is 50% luck and in the menu you can`t go immediately to the level you are. Haven`t played it for a while, but I am stuck at about 64. My opinion on mini's is that there are good titles, but you really have to check the internet what to buy and what not. |
